Mrs. Laird is the school's new grade 4 and 5 French teacher |
Mrs. Laird was recently hired by the school to teach enrichment and grade 4 and 5 French. She recently took some time from her busy schedule to graciously answer a few questions about herself.
Q: What kind of family do you have?
A: I have a family of five. I have a husband, two children, and a cat. My daughter Jennifer is in grade 5 and my son Steven is in grade 9.
Q: Where did you grow up and where did you go to school?
A: I grew up in Winnipeg and attended Catholic schools.
Q: How do you spend your free time? Any hobbies or interests?
A: I enjoy golfing. I also enjoy making floral arrangements, wreaths, and wall hangings. I was a big fan of the Winnipeg Jets when they were here.
Q: Do you have any favorite TV programs or favorite books?
A: One of my favorite books is “April Raintree”.
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: I absolutely love perogies.
Q: What kind of things do you dislike?
A: I don’t like when people gossip.
Q: Where did you work before you came here? Did you have any other interesting jobs in the past?
A: I worked at a few other Catholic schools as well as the Louis Riel School Division. Before teaching, one interesting job I had was bartending at The Old Spaghetti Factory. I was the first female bartender there.
Q: What do you like about your job here at IHMS?
A: I like that everyone has helped me out and made me feel welcome.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you like to go, and why?
A: I’ve always wanted to go to Australia. Everything I’ve read about it seems beautiful.
Q: What is your biggest accomplishment so far in life?
A: Raising my children.
Q: What would you like to accomplish in the future?
A: I would like to write a children’s book.
Q: What’s one thing you wish you could do that you don’t do?
A: I wish I could play the piano.
Q: If you were granted 3 wishes, what would they be?
A: First of all, good health for my family and myself. Secondly, that there would be no more poverty. And finally, three more wishes.
Q: What is something interesting about yourself that most people don’t know about?
A: Before going into teaching, I took many law enforcement classes and was planning a career in that area.
Q: What would you say are your best qualities?
A: I’m organized, dependable, and resourceful.
Q: If you could describe yourself in one word, what would it be?
A: Compassionate
